One of the most famous Soviet tanks of World War II: the T-34-85 named “Chervonny” (Червонный), commanded by Guard Junior Lieutenant Dmitry Georgievich Frolikov
On July 3, 1944, during Operation Bagration, Frolikov’s tank platoon was sent on a daring night reconnaissance mission into the German-occupied capital of Belarus. Tank No. 145 “Chervonny” was famously the very first Soviet tank to break into Minsk, catching the defenders completely by surprise
