Description

INS Delhi (D61) is the lead ship of her class of guided-missile destroyers in the Indian Navy, commissioned on November 15, 1997. Built by Mazagon Dock Limited in Mumbai, she was the largest warship to be designed and indigenously constructed in India at the time of her induction.
Key Highlights:

Dimensions & Power: She has a full load displacement of roughly 6,200–6,900 tonnes and a length of 163 meters, designed for sustained, long-range, and independent maritime operations.
Arsenal & Upgrade: Initially armed with Kh-35E Uran missiles, she has been significantly upgraded with 8-cell VLS BrahMos supersonic cruise missiles. The vessel also features 32-cell Barak-8 SAM for air defense, AK-630 CIWS, and torpedo tubes.
Role: Known as a multi-threat, multi-purpose command and control platform, she serves within the Eastern Fleet, having participated in numerous operations and overseas deployments.
With a motto of “Sarvato Jayamichhami” (I Covet Victory Everywhere), INS Delhi remains a potent frontline destroyer.
